in vitro	In vitro studies using TNF-α/IFN-γ-stimulated human keratinocytes shows that melittin inhibits the increased expression of chemokines, such as CCL17 and CCL22, and pro-inflammatory cytokines, including IL-1β, IL-6 and IFN-γ, through the blockade of the NF‐κB and STAT signalling pathways.
in vivo	Melittin exhibits potent anti-atopic activities, shown by decreased Atopic dermatitis (AD)-like skin lesions, induced by DNCB in mice.

	実験の流れ	The human keratinocyte HaCaT cell line is cultured in high glucose DMEM supplemented with 10% (v/v) FBS and antibiotics at 37°C in a humidified 5% CO2 incubator. HaCaT (5.0 × 10⁵ cells/mL) cells are seeded in the complete medium. 24 hours later, the medium is changed to serumfree mediumwith bee venom (1, 10 and 100 ng/mL) and melittin (0.1, 0.5 and 1 μg/mL). After 30 min, the cells are stimulated with 10 ng/mL TNF-α/IFN-γ for 9 h.
