Specificity Myc tag Antibody [A14H15] detects recombinant proteins containing the Myc epitope tag.
Background The Myc tag is a widely used small epitope tag consisting of an 11-amino-acid peptide sequence (MEQKLISEEDL) derived from the c-Myc protein, belonging to the family of epitope tags used for labeling and detecting recombinant proteins across various expression systems, including bacteria, yeast, insect, and mammalian cells. The Myc tag is compact and hydrophilic, which minimizes interference with the native structure and function of the fused protein. It is genetically fused to target proteins via recombinant DNA technology, allowing easy detection with highly specific monoclonal antibodies. It enables diverse applications such as immunoblotting (Western blotting) to detect protein expression and size, immunoprecipitation for isolating protein complexes, immunostaining for visualizing localization in cells, and flow cytometry for quantification. Its small size (<2 kDa) ensures minimal perturbation of the target protein.
